Basic Usage

Default

By placing this template at the top of their own talk page, a user can indicate how they prefer to be notified of conversations involving them on other talk pages. In order to keep this template up to date, please do not substitute it. The code for template is based on that of {{User notification preference}}.

The default form of this template is {{Notification preferences}}. The shortened version of this template, {{NP}}, can also be used in place of {{Notification preferences}} for any of the following examples.

Typing only the default form of the template will return:

Notification type

Basic use of this template is {{Notification preferences|type of notification}}.

Talkback

{{Notification preferences|talkback}} returns:

This user prefers to be notified with talkback templates. Please post a {{talkback}} message when you reply to this user on other pages.

Notifications

{{Notification preferences|ping}} returns:

This user prefers to receive notifications. Please use {{ping}} or {{reply to}} when you reply to this user on other pages. No talkback messages are needed.

Watchlist

{{Notification preferences|watchlist}} returns:

This user prefers to follow conversations on their watchlist. No talkback messages are needed.


Custom Name

The basic form of this template can also accommodate a username, nickname, or some other custom text.

Example User prefers to be notified with talkback templates. Please post a {{talkback}} message when you reply to this user on other pages.

The template automatically fills in a user's gender from their wikipedia settings.


Detailed Usage

This template offers more detailed customization options if desired. An example of detailed use of this template and its resultant output is shown below.

Example prefers to follow conversations on their watchlist. No talkback messages are needed.
  • background assigns the background color of the box. Default color is "WhiteSmoke" (#F5F5F5).
  • border assigns the color of the box's border. Default color is "WhiteSmoke" (#F5F5F5).
  • align sets the text alignment within the box. Default alignment is center.
  • extra-style allows the user to insert any extra styles that are not covered by existing parameters, such as font-family, font-size, font-variant, text-shadow, etc.
  • rounded=yes will make the corners of the box rounded. Square corners (rounded=no) are the default.
  • px sets the radius of the corners if rounded. If unassigned, the default value is 10.
  • text-color assigns the color of the text. Default color is "Black" (#000000).
