Page mover

(add requestview requests)

User:Hey man im josh

I previously requested page mover and received a 3 month trial on August 30th (link here). I do believe I have a need for the right, as I participate in WP:NPP and would like to continue to have the ability to draftify articles without leaving behind a redirect. As previously mentioned, I also patrol newly created user pages and it has sometimes been appropriate to move those pages to drafts, which would ideally be done without leaving a redirect.  Done It also looks like you have been putting the temporary page mover permissions to good use. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 05:18, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
 Done, for the bot. For future reference, Daniel, it doesn't recognise fancy markup like adding parameters to that template. Sdrqaz (talk) 05:54, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks. I think I saw that format in the page history, but I'll keep it simple in the future. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 07:51, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Daniel Quinlan: erm... What? —usernamekiran (talk) 02:43, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Usernamekiran: I'm not certain what it is that you're asking, but I remember now where I saw the "reason" parameter, it's in the Template:Done documentation. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 05:07, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Daniel Quinlan: sorry, I got a little confused with your username, didn't realise you were you, and I thought it was some troll. I apologise for the confusion. —usernamekiran (talk) 09:30, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I would like to move pages that I've created in user space to main space without leaving behind redirects that then need to be deleted. Thank you! — WILDSTARTALK 23:55, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

 Not done. Ultimately, while suppressing a redirect when moving from your own userspace to elsewhere is a valid reason for suppressing a redirect, it is a preference that doesn't require deletion. Coupled with the general lack of recent RM experience (see Gpedia:Page mover § Guidelines for granting criterion three), I am declining this request. Sdrqaz (talk) 05:54, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's a bit awkward, but since it was my preference to create new pages on this project in userspace without leaving redirects after moving them to mainspace, I will create them in our Mediawiki and, when ready, add them directly to mainspace, albeit without much of a history trail. Thank you! — WILDSTARTALK 15:10, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've been trying to fix bad subpages of talk pages (mostly archive pages, see here for a rough idea), and I've frequently ran into issues with either getting stopped by the ratelimit or encountering a blocking page with non-trivial history, or even both (E.g. Talk:2004 United States election voting controversies). Since this would help reduce my time waiting for an admin's response and reduce the workload on admins with the {{db-move}} requests, I'm asking for the pagemover right on a temporary basis. Aidan9382 (talk) 20:49, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

 Done for 3 months (temporary basis as requested, feel free to reapply when that's up). DanCherek (talk) 03:07, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am requesting the page mover permission more for vandalism support. Since June 2022, WikiProject Weather has been struck by multiple trolls who get the autoconfirmed permission, then move pages that are highly viewed and highly edited due to most being “Current” class articles (like 2022 Atlantic hurricane season). We also have a two sockmasters who, since July 2022, have caused crazy disruption in various discussions (RfC & AfD), page move discussions, and sometimes just doing “BOLD” page moves on their own to less troll-like names, but doing it without gaining consensus. I’ve had to ask two times in the last month or two alone on WP:DISCORD for admin assistance from trolls moving highly viewed weather pages to troll names. So, this permission would help greatly and help me stop bugging the admins. Elijahandskip (talk) 06:45, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am requesting the page mover permission as I am very active in participating at WP:Requested Moves. I have closed several RMs before that do not have a redirect sitting in the way, but often there is a redirect in the way of a move that has gained consensus. There is often a backlog of discussions waiting to be closed at WP:Requested Moves and I would like to help. If granted this tool I would only move pages that have consensus to be moved or that are non-controversial. I have absolutely no desire to close and move contentious RM discussions, as I think that job should be left for administrators. Rreagan007 (talk) 16:44, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I frequently do new page patrol, and I will sometimes draftify articles that are an obvious good faith attempt to create an article, but are nowhere near ready for the main space (i.e. the issues extend beyond what cleanup tagging could address). It would be nice to not have to constantly R2 the resulting cross-namespace redirect, thus making more work for admins and unnecessarily cluttering CSD categories. I'm not sure that I qualify for full NPR rights because I'm not that active at AFD, but I'd still like to be able to help in some way. Whist doing AfC reviews, I find badly named articles or those in the wrong namespace. Having page mover would make my life easier in repairing these. - RichT|C|E-Mail 13:25, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've recently been given AfC reviewer rights, and many submissions have a title that is currently already used in mainspace, like a redirect. Being able to move pages would just be a helpful tool to have. DecafPotato (talk) 00:14, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
