Mga Winaray nga Pakli ha Wikimedia Commons
(I'm very sorry, but I am not an Waray-Waray speaker. I do ask for translation of this message into the Waray-Waray language.)
My fellow Waray-Waray Wikipedians, I am requesting from your community today to join in helping towards the establishment and development of Wikimedia Philippines, the Philippine chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation. You may join the Association by signing our participants' list. You may also view our Association Articles and Incorporation at Bylaws, give comments and/or suggestions or translate into Waray-Waray, and vote for the approval of the Articles of Incorporation so that it may be forwarded to the Wikimedia Foundation chapters committee.
I hope this becomes a successful process, and we appreciate the help. Thank you very much. --Sky Harbor 17:28, 2 Hunyo 2007 (UTC)

Betawiki: better support for your language in MediaWiki
Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the Japanese language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. In fact, of 1,736 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 5.99% of the messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages for 126 extensions, with 2,174 messages. Many of them are used in WMF projects and they are vital for understanding the wiki. Currently 0.00% of the WMF extension messages have been translated. Translators for over 90 languages contribute their work to MediaWiki this way every month.
If you wish to contribute to better support of your language in MediaWiki, as well as for many MediaWiki extensions, please visit Betawiki, create an account and request translator privileges. You can see the current status of localisation of your language on MediaWiki.org and do not forget to get in touch with others that may already be working on your language on Betawiki.
If you have any further questions, please let me know on my talk page on Betawiki. We will try and assist you as much as possible, for example by importing all messages from a local wiki for you to start with, if you so desire.
You can also find us on the Freenode IRC network in the channel #mediawiki-i18n where we will be happy to help you get started.

Manila 8/First Wikimedia Philippines Annual Convention
All editors of the Waray-Waray Gpedia are cordially invited to attend the First Wikimedia Philippines Annual Convention on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. The convention will run concurrent with the Eighth Manila Wikipedians' Meetup. This will also serve as the soft-launch of WMPH.
Editors from this Gpedia who have signed up to join WMPH are expected to attend, so please be there. Likewise, we are inviting non-members of WMPH to attend as observers; you are welcome to sign up as a member of WMPH during the convention if you so wish. To help us estimate the number of attendees, may we please ask you to list your name on this page, under "Participants".
Thank you, and we hope to see you at the WMPH Annual Convention. :)
1,000,000-article commemorative logo
Waray-Waray Gpedia has reached 1,000,000 articles. Why you don't create a commemorative logo because of the one million articles?
Help for translate
Hello and sorry for writing in English. Can anyone help me translate a small article (2 paragraphs) from English to your language? Please, fell free to answer in my talk page in your wiki. Thanks! Xaris333 (hiruhimangraw) 01:58, 12 Agosto 2014 (UTC)
Tulong sa wikang Waray
Saya mahasiswa dan sedang membuat proyek tentang bahasa Waray. Saya mau minta bagaimana cara mengatakan dalam bahasa Waray:
- puting susu
Terima kasih banyak atas contribusi anda sekalian.
- "Hello, the Waray word for the Tagalog "Bigote" is Bungot.
Happy Public Domain Day!
Feel free to translate this message in your language!
On January 1 we celebrate Public Domain Day as many works of authors who died 70+ years ago now enter the public domain and can be used freely.
Let us be aware: copyright is temporary. It only lasts during the authors lifetime and 70 years afterwards (in most countries). During those years it is limiting Gpedia and her sister projects in showing works of art, literature, public art and buildings in countries without freedom of panorama, and more in the articles. But now a new batch is freed from copyrights!
An overview of images and texts that are restored or added to the Wikimedia Commons, are collected on: this page.
Many of these files still need a place in articles. You can help!
You can also help by uploading new files of subjects that are freed of copyrights.
You can also help by tagging all requests for deletion pages with the category when the file can be restored, which will be/was deleted.
As I follow the log of restored files this week, more images and texts will follow. If still files or texts are missing in the list, let me know or add them yourselves.

Gpedia to the Moon working phase
Dear Waray Gpedia language community,
First of all, I am sorry to write this in English.
You may already have heard about Gpedia to the Moon: A team of scientists called the “PT Scientists” are going to send a space craft to the moon in 2017 and they want to take Gpedia along with them. Because Gpedia is so big, we cannot send all of it to the moon. That is why the international Gpedia-community has voted to send all “Featured Articles and Featured Lists“ from all languages in Gpedia.
“Featured Articles“ is a category in many language versions of Gpedia that collects the very best articles in that language. Your community does not currently have a „Featured Articles“ category. Ideally, we want to take every language on Gpedia to the moon and we also want to take the best articles in your language. That is why we would like you to tell us what the very best articles in your language are.
There are two ways you could do this:
- 1) You could introduce the categories “Featured Article” and “Featured List” in your language version of Gpedia and vote for the best articles and put them in the category. We will take every article that is tagged as a “Featured Article” or a “Featured List” to the moon
- 2) You could vote for the best articles in your language version of Gpedia and put them all on one a new Gpedia page. If you let us know where we can find that list here, we will also take the articles to the moon.
The deadline for Gpedia to the Moon is 31 October 2016. After that date, we will put all the Featured Articles and Lists onto a special disc and give it to the “PT Scientists.” They will take the Gpedia articles into space next year.
Request for Comment on cross-wiki search results
The Discovery Search Team wants to enable search results that will include articles across all wiki projects – within the same language.
We'd like your feedback on the specifics of how this new functionality might work, and feedback or alternative ideas for the possible design options.
Thank you for your time.
New notification when a page is connected to Wikidata
(Please help translate to your language)
The Wikidata development team is about to deploy a new feature on all Wikipedias. It is a new type of notification (via Echo, the notification system you see at the top right of your wiki when you are logged in), that will inform the creator of a page, when this page is connected to a Wikidata item.
You may know that Wikidata provides a centralized system for all the interwikilinks. When a new page is created, it should be connected to the corresponding Wikidata item, by modifying this Wikidata item. With this new notification, editors creating pages will be informed when another editor connects this page to Wikidata.
This feature will be deployed on May 30th on all the Wikipedias, excepting English, French and German. This feature will be disable by default for existing editors, and enabled by default for new editors.
This is the first step of the deployments, the Wikipedias and other Wikimedia projects will follow in the next months.
If you have any question, suggestion, please let me know by pinging me. You can also follow and leave a comment on the Phabricator ticket.
Thanks go to Matěj Suchánek who developed this feature!
