Template:Split_section
Usage
{Split section|Title to which to split |discuss={TALKPAGENAME}#Split proposed |date=March 2025}
The first parameter represents the title for the proposed new page, and |discuss=
provides a link to the discussion thread on the talk page of the article proposed to be split (it can be named explicitly or you can use the {TALKPAGENAME}
"magic word"; |discuss=Talk:{PAGENAME}#Split proposed
would also work). The example above produces:
Of course, the page "Title" already exists, but your actual page title will most likely be either a red link or a redirect.
If more than one target article needs to be named, use the more robust template {Split portions}:
{Split portions|portion=this section |First title to which to split |Second title to which to split |discuss={TALKPAGENAME}#Split proposed |date=March 2025}
(supports up to 20 titles).
This template will add tagged articles to Category:All articles to be split, the proper dated subcategory of Category:Article sections to be split, and the proper dated subcategory of Category:Articles to be split.
