Gpedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Artists

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Please add MUSIC-related discussions to Gpedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Music, not here.

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Artists (in the visual arts only). It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Gpedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Artists|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Artists (in the visual arts only).

For further information see Gpedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Not notable as an artist, doesn't have significant coverage. Not notable as a scientist, just five scientific publications. Mvqr (talk) 15:03, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Delete - I was a stone's throw from nominating this myself a moment ago, until twinkle notified me it had already been. Not seeing evidence for a pass of WP:GNG, WP:NBIO, WP:NACADEMIC or WP:NCREATIVE. Those looking for sources might want to use an alternate name (derived from a couple of publications) "Laura Yelin-Bekerman" ASUKITE 15:06, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Delete. WP:PROMO draft was just deleted. Fails WP:GNG, WP:NBIO. Loksmythe (talk) 16:15, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Delete. No evidence of notability, seems like someone created a page to advertise themself. Seungri400 (talk) 17:37, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

I cannot find any reliable sources to include in this article. It currently has no references. The subject fails WP:NARTIST. She doesn't appear to be in any major exhibitions or had any of her exhibitions reviewed. Her work is not listed as being in any collections WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 02:45, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Thank you Vexations. I checked out the CAMAC link embedded in the article and it looks like the content of the article was taken from there. The article is from a show in 2007, so I don't think CAMAC got the text from Gpedia. I do apologize for not doing a better "before" on this artist. Now I am not sure how or if I should tag it for copyright violation. Please advise. WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 01:57, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
It's a text that appears in many places, the kind of bio that any artist is expected to provide for exhibitions, conferences or lectures, and of course it also appears on her own website: [1] Vexations (talk) 13:27, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Rob Redding

This page has had many issues for a long time. The most important, as I see it, are violating the following guidelines: WP:PROMOTION and WP:GNG.

  • WP:PROMOTION: The article is written in an excessively favorable way about its subject. Redding is described as a "polymath" with no basis for such a description, and the article even lists his "peak chart positions."
  • WP:GNG: Redding does not have sufficient and lasting notability to warrant a Wikiepdia page. Many of the sources are from his own outlets and presented in a misleading way to overstate their influence.

These reasons are closely linked, and they cannot be remedied because the fundamental purpose of this article seems to be Redding's self-promotion. EWBlyden 85 (talk) 18:22, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

I don't think someone who has done as much as Mr. Redding should be deleted, I don't think that the world needs less black and brown heroes. That's what deleting this page would do. Redding page has almost 100 cites. The most latest is the Washington Post, some of you are just making this personal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gregpolk (talkcontribs) 15:48, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

I am also nominating the following related pages because WP:PROMOTION:

The subject supposedly made some notable work, but there is no significant coverage in independent, reliable sources of said work: phi face, MARCO and Swen of the Wirble. He has worked for some notable companies, but so have millions of other "freelance artists". Vexations (talk) 15:58, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

  • Comment I am not sure what to make of this article. The subject is employed as a Design Director at Spatialize, which is the first sentence of the article and has a primary source. The second sentence leans on an interview, which really should not be used as a reliable secondary source. After that I get lost. The text doesn't document why this digital artist is notable . "He uses his art to express his beliefs on queer politics, WTC, financial data, visualization, and physicalized narrative" doesn't mean anything. • Delete - I'm not finding anything in a BEFORE search to substantiate the notability of this artist. He does not meet WP:GNG nor WP:NARTIST criteria for inclusion. Netherzone (talk) 00:53, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Quite a simple nomination - does not meet WP:GNG or WP:BIO. Came across this article during suggested cleanup tasks, and there is little I can do to assist in improving this article. Its three sentences say all there is to say about the subject, and it has no ability for expansion due to a lack of significant coverage or verifiable sources. Per WP:CREATIVE this person is not an important figure, no significant new photography techniques, no major role in a well known work, and the works are not of significance. Comment I rewrote the article using information from the Portuguese article about him, and added sources. I suppose it passes WP:NBASIC. User:Tetizeraz. Send me a ✉️ ! 18:53, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

  • Delete I looked at the (english translation of ) that Portuguese article. I don't see notability as an historical figure or as a creative artist. or businessperson. DGG ( talk ) 06:52, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
