A Shute Shield é unha liga de rugby que enfronta ós principais clubs da zona de Sydney, en Australia. Por tradición, trátase da competición doméstica máis importante do país, malia que non é unha competición nacional, senón rexional. Foi creada a comezos do século XX, e refundada en 1923. Até 1995 esta competición era unha das ligas de rugby máis importantes do mundo, pero coa chegada do profesionalismo e a creación do torneo de franquías Super Rugby, a Shute Shield pasou a ocupar o segundo chanzo dentro da estrutura competitiva do rugby australiano, converténdose nalgo semellante á canteira dos NSW Waratahs, o equipo profesional representativo do estado de Nova Gales do Sur. Paralelamente á Shute Shield, dispútanse a Queensland Premier Rugby e a Dewar Shield nos veciños estados de Queensland e Victoria.
A liga adoita disputarse na segunda metade do ano, e conta con 12 clubs participantes, a maioría deles moi antigos. O campión da Shute Shield disputa dende 1982 o Australian Club Championship fronte ó campión da Queensland Premier Rugby, e o gañador é considerado oficiosamente campión de Australia.
