ਵਾਈਕਿੰਗ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ 8ਵੀਂ ਤੋਂ 11ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਯੂਰਪ ਦੇ ਸਕੈਂਡੀਨੇਵੀਆ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੂਟੇਰੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਮੱਧ ਯੂਰਪ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਰਪੀ ਰੂਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁੱਟਮਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।[1][2]
