The Optare Prisma was a single-decker body of a bus. It had a step-entrance. It was made from 1995 to 1998 by Optare.
The Prisma body was built to the Mercedes-Benz O405 chassis.[1][2][3]
In 1998, It was replaced by the low-floor Optare Excel.
Operators
From 1995 to 1997, GRT Group ordered thirty-five Prismas.[4] ten of these had double-glazed windows and air-conditioning.[5] After GRT Group had rebranded to FirstBus, FirstBus ordered more Prismas.[6]
In 1995, North East Bus ordered twenty-five Prismas.[4]
From 1996 to 1998, East Yorkshire Motor Services ordered sixteen Prismas[7][8] these were the last Optare Primsas made.[9]
Sargeants of Kingston upon Thames,[10] Black Prince Buses of Morley,[11] the Tillingbourne Bus Company of Cranleigh,[12] MacEwan of Dumfries,[8] and Rhondda Buses all ordered Prismas.[source?]

Previous big single-deckers were 16 Mercedes-Benz 0405s with Optare Prisma bodies, purchased between 1996 and 1998 and these have just been joined by a further three purchased from MacEwan of Dumfries.
