The Switch Metrocity (previously called the Optare MetroCity) is a single-decker midibus. It has a low-floor. It has been made from 2013 to the present day by Switch Mobility.
MetroCity
From 2013 to the present day, Switch Mobility make a diesel model called the Metrocity.
The MetroCity is made in different lengths, these lengths are 9.9 mm (0.0099 m),[1] 10.13 m (10,130 mm),[2] 10.6 m (10,600 mm),[1] 10.82 m (10,820 mm),[2] and 11.52 m (11,520 mm),[2]
In 2020, Optare changed its name to Switch Mobility.[3]
In 2023, Optare Metrocity was replaced with Switch Metrocity,[4] the bus interior and exterior stayed the same.
Operators
United Kingdom
From 2016 to 2017, New Adventure Travel ordered thirty MetroCities.[5]
From 2016 to 2017, West Coast Motors ordered eleven MetroCities.[6][7]
New Zealand
In September 2017, Tranzit Group ordered 114 for use in Wellington.[8][9][10]
Metrocity EV

From 2014 to the present day, Switch Mobility make an electric model called the Metrocity EV.
In 2020, Optare changed its name to Switch Mobility.[3]
In 2023, Optare Metrocity EV was replaced with Switch Metrocity EV, the bus interior and exterior stayed the same.
Operators
United Kingdom
In 2014, London United ordered four Metrocity EVs, these were for services on route H98.[11]
In 2015, Arriva London ordered nine Metrocity EVs, these were for services on route 312.[12][13]
In 2023, Stagecoach London ordered twelve Metrocity EVs, these were for services on route 339.[14]
In 2023, First Berkshire & The Thames Valley had a Switch Metrodecker EV with autonomous technology, this was on trial for a month and it was in service operating between Didcot Parkway railway station and the Milton Park business and technology park.[15]
